13 weeks and counting

13 weeks ut and I am in perfect shape for this time of prep, my new trainer has had a differnt approach and I am really seeing that changes. Lots of emphasis on building differnt parts of my body up, and no dieting yet,….well when I say no diet I mean I am still eating the strict amounts and at times that I normally would – its ultra healthy and really theres no to very little indulgence but I havent yet started conciously dropping body fat for competiton- this starts monday. Together wih a new training partner I feel I am in the best place ever to show well on stage. Im not after a placing just to present the best package possible and I decided if thats figure or shape Ill see how the next 13 weeks gos. Hooray!

Food and family

Lots of people have been asking me how I eat what I eat and have family. they say they cant be bothered cooking 2 different meals and their kids/husbands wont eat healthy food.
the simple answer is I dont make 2 meals, those that know me know that I am the worlds laziest cook, you cant be speding lots of time in the kitchen when you have 2 children under 3yrs, a business, training and a house to run!
Meals I make are done in udner 20minutes and you can easiuly add and substract things to make them applicable to my training, for example Spagetti Bolognase, YUM right? and loaded with heaps of carbs, plenty of fat in the beef and dont you just love loading it with sour cream and cheese….Spagetti bolognase is a family stable in our house biut I change it, instead of beef mince I use turkey, I put handfuls of spinach in it and I add 1 can of pureed red kidney beans- the rest of the family have it over pasta and I have mine over steamed vege- super easy and it really REALLY tasty!
so dont see the excuses in why you cant do things, adapt!

Postponed!

the injury I sustained to my neck was far more serious than both the physio and myself realised, despite being at the physio 3x a week for over 5 weeks, the injury just lead to a trail of other problems and it soon became pretty obvious that its wasn’t a straight forward injury. it will take time and retraining of the way I move my whole torso! ekk!!

So the decision was made to postpone competing till sept, which I know is the right decision to make but it has taken me a few days  (and a good wedge of birthday cake) to adjust to the new goals, so with new plan in place I’m feeling happy with the path I’ve chosen and excited to be able to spend some more time building some beautiful muscle xx

just under 16 weeks…..

Im feeling really energised! despite doing something very silly to my neck/shoulder and having to nearly live at the physios for the last week I am feeling so good. Im focussed, im getting in all my cardio, adjusting my diet as needed and seeing the result! Last time I competed it was such an unknown I didnt know how my body would respond and to be truthful it did not like it,
this time I spend the off season doing all the things that would help come prep time (oh and having a baby) and now my body is ramped up and rearing to go even when I call on it at 5am in the morning.

I hate those weeks…..

I hate the weeks where you had a good loss the week before and you have kept everything the same, no relaxed meals, hardcore cardio, weights that cripple you, your feeling the hunger every minute and the scales show you no love. stinky.

It feels like you have wasted a week of comp prep, but you have to remind yourself that this week even if the scales didnt move you built muscle, you sculpted your body, you built strength and take it easy on yourself you are pushing hard, harder than most and sometimes your body just needs a minute.

First day of the new year and first day of serious comp prep!

19 weeks till comp and today was the deadline for the serious business of comp prep to start. Calories counted, nutrition calculated and supplements taken,, No more ‘relaxed’ meals, no more days off its eye of the tiger serious time. After an awesome workout to start the day as part of my 30 days of spin challenge and a day filled with lean protein, fibrous veg, fruit, low GI carbs and buckets of water I feel super positive. I’ve got approx 8kgs to lose in 19 weeks, totally doable- 2012 is going to rock!
Big goal for this year is to secure some sponsorship and to do that I need to earn a placing which means hard-work. oh yay I’m so excited!

20 weeks and 5 days…and Im at risk of starting heavier than last time

‘serious’ training starts Saturday, and I’m currently heavier than I was when I started prep for my 2010 comp plus I want to be lighter on stage, oh dear, granted there’s only a kg in it but it does worry me, half the struggle in comp prep in psychological .,…..plus there’s Christmas day on Sunday (sigh). Still I am feeling confident, I know what I’m doing this time, I have everything set up ready to go and since I’ve been on stage already I know how it feels and I know its totally all worth it!
This time I want to place in my category, I want to get some awesome pictures taken to take to potential sponsors and thank goodness I’m not having any more children so Ill never be back here again :) …actually that extra kg is probably muscle, ha-ha.
Anyone else got a massive goal for 2012? Id love to hear it

sometimes you have to work with your body not against it

I started to see less and less results despite hitting the gym hard and being super clean in my diet and over the last 10 days I have totally hit a wall, no energy and drifting towards the cookie jar which is very unlike me. in frustration I gave in and have done none or very little exercise for 2 days and POW, my tummy’s flatter and my measurements are all down…..sometimes you have to work with your body rather than fighting it and remember that rest is part of the results equation.
